Dr. Peterson examines the tooth, removes any decay, and shapes it to receive the crown. A precise impression is taken and a comfortable temporary crown is placed.

A dental lab crafts your porcelain crown to match the exact shade, shape, and translucency of your natural teeth. This typically takes about two weeks.

Permanent Placement
Your custom crown is checked for perfect fit and bite, then bonded permanently. You leave with a tooth that looks, feels, and works like it should.
How long do dental crowns last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, porcelain crowns typically last 10 to 15 years, and many last much longer. Avoiding hard candies, ice chewing, and teeth grinding helps extend their life.
Does getting a crown hurt?
No. The tooth is numbed completely before any work begins, and most patients describe the procedure as no more uncomfortable than a standard filling. We also offer comfort amenities like movies and blankets during treatment.
How many visits does a crown take?
Usually two. At the first visit Dr. Peterson prepares the tooth and places a temporary crown. At the second visit, about two weeks later, the custom porcelain crown is bonded permanently in place.
Is a bridge better than an implant?
It depends on your case. A bridge is faster and often covered more generously by insurance, while an implant preserves jawbone and does not rely on neighboring teeth. Dr. Peterson will walk you through both options honestly at your consultation.
